Congratulations to John Monash Science School students Max and Kevin, who recently participated in the 2026 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) at Phenikaa University in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics is an annual international competition for high school students worldwide. The competition aims to ignite a passion for astronomy and astrophysics, discover and nurture young scientific talent, and foster academic exchange, knowledge sharing, and cross-cultural connections among participating nations.

Competing alongside some of the world’s most talented student astronomers and astrophysicists, Max and Kevin demonstrated exceptional dedication, curiosity, and academic excellence. We are particularly proud of Kevin, who was awarded an honourable mention for his outstanding performance.

About IOA: The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is one of the youngest and most vibrant members of the global family of International Science Olympiads. Established in 2006 by five founding nations—Thailand, Indonesia, Iran, China, and Poland—the IOAA was created with a shared vision: to inspire the next generation of astronomers, astrophysicists, and space enthusiasts, while fostering international friendship through scientific collaboration.
